FOR ALTERATIONS & TAILORING SHOPS

Alterations tickets, measurements and pickup reminders in one place

Hems, waists, zippers and resizing. Keep the measurements and pin notes with each garment, tell customers when it's ready by email, and remind them if it's still waiting on the rack.

Sound familiar?

Pin notes and measurements live on scraps of paper that go missing
Finished garments wait on the rack for weeks because nobody picked them up
A regular asks for "the same hem as last time" and nobody wrote it down

How one alterations repair flows

An example of a alterations repair in Repair Karte (the customer and item are made up). The plan for each step is written under it; see pricing.

  1. 1Check-in

Check in the pants for “too long, waist a little loose”

Pick the item type and the usual work in a tap, write the symptom, and print a claim tag (PDF on Letter or A4). The customer signs on screen.

Plan: All plans (Free: up to 100 repairs a month) · QR code on the claim tag: Standard and up

  2. 2Estimate

Send a $38.00 estimate for “hem (blind stitch) and take in waist”

The customer approves it on the repair's status page. On Standard and Pro the estimate is emailed automatically, and a reminder goes out if they haven't answered (after 5 days to start).

Plan: Approval on the status page: all plans · Automatic email and reminders: Standard and up

  3. 3In repair

Add “In progress” to the timeline

The customer can check progress on the repair's status page anytime (from the QR code on their claim tag, or by looking up their phone number). When the parts arrive, move the status on.

Plan: Status page: all plans · QR code on the claim tag: Standard and up

  4. 4Ready

Mark it complete, and the customer is told

A ready-for-pickup email goes out with a link to the status page, where the customer can book a pickup time and pay by card before coming in.

Plan: Email: Standard and up · Card payment (Stripe): Standard and up · Pickup booking: Pro

  5. 5Pickup

Hand it over and record the payment

Record how it was paid (deposits are subtracted automatically). The repair stays on Emily's history, and on the item's history by serial number.

Questions from alterations & tailoring shops

Where do I keep measurements and pin notes?

Add your own fields to the check-in form (inseam, waist, sleeve), and use the notes for anything else. They stay with the garment's record and the customer's history.

Can I remind customers to pick up finished garments?

Yes, on Standard and Pro. An automatic pickup reminder goes out by email after the number of days you choose (new shops start at 5 days; you can change it or turn it off in Settings).

Can customers pay a deposit when they drop off?

You can record a deposit at check-in on every plan, and the balance due shows on the customer's status page and receipt. Online card payment is on Standard and Pro.
